MorSafeTM Power Morcellation Bag Receives

MorSafeTM makes power morcellation safer for the European medical community

Veol Medical Technologies is pleased to announce that MorSafe™, a tissue isolator bag designed specifically for use with a power morcellator, has received CE certification. The Versator System, which now encompasses the MorSafe™ bag, is now available in the European market.

MorSafe™ has been invented and designed to address the lack of enclosed bag alternatives in the market and it has been designed and indicated specifically for morcellation.

A power morcellator, used during laparoscopic surgeries to cut tissues involving hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) and myomectomy (removal of the uterine fibroids) has come under heavy scrutiny recently for the potential risks involved with the spread of uterine sarcoma, a type of cancer.

Power Morcellation made safer - MorSafe tissue isolation bag launched by Veol Medical Technologies

Veol Medical Technologies is pleased to unveil MorSafe™, a tissue isolator bag designed specifically for use with a power morcellator.

MorSafe™ has been invented and designed to address the lack of enclosed bag alternatives in the market designed specifically for morcellation.

A power morcellator, used during laparoscopic surgeries to cut tissues involving hysterectomy removal of the uterus) and myomectomy (removal of the uterine fibroids) has come under heavy scrutiny recently for the potential risks involved with the spread of uterine sarcoma, a type of cancer.

"As laparoscopic surgery offers many advantages to a patient vis-\E0-vis an open surgical option, it would not be right or fair to patients if a safe but minimally invasive surgical option is not available for hysterectomy and myomectomy procedures. "While it has been tried, we do not necessarily believe in the efficacy or the safety of the use ofo ff-label morcellation bags long term" says Dinesh Diwakar, VP R&D. "We have been very fortunate to have been working on a morcellation bag for many years that takes into account such factors as the variability of uterine tissue, the usability aspects, safety aspects and the skill set required of the surgeon. I am confident that MorSafe™ addresses these issues and we look forward to the market response to this approach"

The MorSafe™ device has been tried by several leading medical practitioners including Dr. P.G. Paul and Dr. Mahesh Patwardhan for myomectomy and hysterectomy respectively with positive results.

New off-site Medical Device 'Proof of Concept' Center designed to reduce R&D cost pressures on device manufacturers

Veol Medical Technologies is pleased to announce the opening of our new 'Proof of Concept' Center designed specifically to offer medical device companies the opportunity to continue to develop innovative new products while addressing significant industry cost pressures.

The off-site center is being organized as a one-stop shop to meet client requirements for quick and efficient 'Proof of Concept' evaluations and will be staffed with a seasoned team of experts covering market analysis to identify unmet needs, concept generation, industrial design, embedded systems design and prototyping.
